Document and Communicate the Work Agreement
The more straightforward the situation, the simpler the work agreement (e.g. a quick email), and the more complicated the work, the more people you will want to involve and the more precise you will want the work agreement to be (e.g. a formal written contract). Use the Work Agreement Worksheet or any other appropriate format to document the agreement. Be sure to include team member signature lines in your Work Agreement document.
Gain Commitment and Buy-In
Once the Work Agreement is documented, it is time to gain commitment and buy-in from the team members. This is usually a simple process since they all contributed to the development of the Work Agreement. You can hold a follow-up meeting to sign the document as a group or distribute the document for signature among team members. In either case it is important to document in writing the commitment of each team member.
